At DR Bespoke, we pride ourselves on our consultation process. Our aim isn’t to simply create a suit—it’s to create a story that you can wear and an experience that you will remember. To ensure we achieve this, we operate on a 90-minute, appointment-based, one-to-one service.
A Warm Welcome
Upon arrival, you will be greeted by one of our specialised tailors. They will offer you a beverage and the consultation will begin. The first step is to gather an understanding of yourself and your story—what matters to you, who are the special people in your life, what your day-to-day life looks etc. In many cases, shopping bespoke can feel quite intimidating and that’s exactly what we try to avoid. We keep things very friendly, and very casual whilst maintaining a premium, high-end experience. Think of us less as tailors, and more as guides helping you design something that fits your life as well as your body.
Choosing Your Fabric
Once we’ve captured your vision, it’s time for one of the most exciting steps: choosing your fabric. With access to some of the world’s finest cloths right here in Yorkshire, you’ll have the opportunity to feel, compare and select materials that reflect your personality and purpose. We will guide you through the pros and cons of each fabric and make professional recommendations based on our initial conversation.
The Measure-Up
When you’ve found a fabric you love, we move on to the measure-up — the foundation of your bespoke experience. We take over forty precise measurements to ensure a perfect fit across every contour of your body. But this stage isn’t just about numbers; it’s about understanding proportion, posture and movement. We assess how you naturally stand, how your shoulders sit, and how you carry yourself — details that define the balance and flow of your finished suit.
Throughout the process, we explain what each measurement contributes to and where past garments may have fallen short. Many clients find this stage surprisingly insightful — it’s often the moment they realise why off-the-peg suits never quite feel right.
Designing Your Suit
Once we’ve taken your full set of measurements, we begin building your piece. We’ll discuss styling options such as lapel shape, button stance, and pocket placement — the subtle design details that shape the overall character of your suit. From there, we’ll select your lining, buttons, and finishing touches. Every choice adds personality: whether that’s a flash of colour inside the jacket, contrast stitching on the buttonholes, or monogrammed initials discreetly embroidered inside the lining.
This is where your individuality comes to life. Some clients keep things timeless and understated; others opt for bolder statements that tell a story every time they put the suit on. There’s no right or wrong — just what feels authentically you. Our role is to guide you through these creative decisions so that, by the end, you’ll have designed something that reflects not just your body, but your identity.
